Research interests and main scientific achievements
The large-scale multicenter seroepidemiological studies on the etiology of viral hepatitis, herpetic infections, acute respiratory viral infections, etc. were conducted; the laboratory diagnostics of these infections have been improved, tactics of nonspecific immunoprophylaxis of these infections have been developed and introduced.
The concept of a blood serum bank has been developed. An assessment of the immunological susceptibility and the true assessment of herd immunity in various population groups in relation to vaccine-controlled infections has been conducted.
Priority data on the state of cellular immunity in patients with chronic liver diseases were obtained. The prevalence of markers of infection with hepatitis B and C viruses in patients and medical personnel in multidisciplinary hospitals has been established.
The epidemiological and clinical significance of the HBsAg mutants and “occult” HBV infection among healthy populations and patients with somatic and infectious diseases were assessed, and the priority choice of vaccines was justified.
