Research interests

Scientific research is devoted to mechanisms of formation of microarchitecture of biotopes of the human body in health and disease, to study of the principles of managing the colonization resistance of the human body and improvement of diagnostics, treatment and prevention of actual infectious and non-infectious diseases in humans. As a result, the expediency of studying the architecture of microbiocenoses of the mucous membranes of the human body has been substantiated, methods have been developed and patented for isolating microorganisms from parietal mucin and a universal basis of a nutrient medium for cultivating microflora of the human body, modern genetic methods have been introduced into the study of the human microbiome and antibiotic resistance drift. The structure and mechanisms of the formation of microecosystems of the human body in normal and pathological conditions have been investigated, a hypothesis for the cluster structure of mucosal biofilms has been formulated, and factors for the control of colonization resistance have been identified.

Yu.V. Nesvizhsky conducts teaching at the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Sechenov University). Under his supervision, 1 doctoral and 9 PhD theses were defended in the field of microbiology and immunology.

Author of over 350 scientific papers, including over 170 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, 7 monographs, 22 copyright certificates and patents, 17 textbooks and 23 manuals on microbiology, virology and immunology.
