Biography
Since 1994, a head of the department of infectious diseases, chief infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Since 2001 — deputy head of the Military Medical Academy for scientific work.
After the dismissal from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2008, is a Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Research Institute for Children's Infections of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency”.
Chief specialist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for infectious diseases in children.
Research interests and main scientific achievements
- improving the scientific basis for the organization of medical care for children with infectious diseases, which resulted in the development of scientifically based procedures and medical and economic standards for the provision of medical and diagnostic assistance to children with such diseases;
- development and implementation of new technologies for the immunoprophylaxis of weakened children, which significantly reduced the risk of developing a complicated course of the vaccination process, increased the number of vaccinated children and reduced the diseases incidence in children;
- timely diagnosis and adequate treatment of children with neuroinfections and their consequences (meningococcal infection, tick-borne encephalitis, Lyme disease, serous and purulent meningitis of various nature, acute flaccid paralysis, etc.), which helped to reduce the disability rates in this category of patients;
- diagnosis and treatment of critical conditions in severe infectious diseases in children, identification of risk factors for the occurrence of these conditions and development of measures to prevent them;
- the study of intrauterine infections and the conditions of their occurrence, which made it possible to develop scientifically based algorithms for assessing the risk of some congenital infections.
