Research interests and main scientific achievements
- Made a series of discoveries of global importance in the field of molecular virology for the disclosure of the mechanism of penetration of influenza virus into the target cell via a pH-dependent viral molecular motor M1;
- the discovery of the cascade regulation of cell death through the activation of antiapoptotic mediators in the first phase of viral replication and activation of cell apoptosis after replication of the virus;
- developing a new concept binary drugs that suppress the reproduction of the virus itself and virus-induced disease pathogenesis and development of drugs against influenza on this basis;
- a fundamental discovery in the realm of viruses — a new "ambisense" strategy of the genome of human influenza A virus.
